KITCHEN CABINET REFACING
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

It’s simple. Strip everything out of your existing kitchen just leaving the frames of the existing cabinets. Now, cover the frames with a high pressure laminate such as formica brand.
Next, put in all new drawer boxes and glides. Then, install all new formica faced doors and drawer fronts. Don’t forget all new hinges on those doors. Laminate any trim work such as soffits and valances. Throw on some nice new drawer handles and drawer pulls. Toss in a beautiful new countertop and you’re done. You’re left with a beautiful new kitchen that is practically maintenance free.

SOUNDS EASY, RIGHT? NOT SO!

Like everything else in contracting, selection of material will effect both cost and long term performance of your kitchen. There are fourteen individual products that go into a kitchen refacing project.

All of these materials come in various cost and quality levels. It’s important to note that labor cost will remain fixed and consequently it will be product quality that determines appearance and longevity of the completed kitchen. Make sure to discuss exactly what your material options are with your contractor. Don’t leave the product selection solely up to them. Their first choice may not be your best option. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
